Oracle Database Developer

UNICEF requires an Oracle database developer to join the Business Intelligence development team to populate the UNICEF data warehouse with transactional data from various source systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive Oracle PL/SQL experience where data is moved from source to staging, further transformed into an ODS and then into dimensional reporting schemas.
The consultant will be responsible for Business Information “back room” tasks included below:
  1. Develop new content and maintaining existing content to the Oracle database used in the Business Information project contributing towards the delivery of the work plan.
  2. Work with the DBA section in designing high performance, high availability database systems.
  3. Participate in database design sessions with the lead application DBA and project manager.
  4. Develop UNIX shell scripts and/or Windows batch files to facilitate in the extraction, movement, and loading of transactional data.
  5. Code the extract, transform, and load routines using PL/SQL and SQL Server Integration Services.
  6. Extract data from SAP BW and SAP ECC into the UNICEF Enterprise data warehouse.
  7. Maintain documentation on the development and production configuration and technical documentation including logical and physical database designs, metadata, and production procedures.
  8. Regularly monitor and tune as needed the database performance.
The skills and experience required for this assignment are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or at least 5 years hands‐on experience in Oracle database development including PL/SQL
• Advanced knowledge of Oracle internals and Oracle database administration and database tuning including hands‐on experience creating database schemas, tablespaces, and all other related DDL
• Strong knowledge and experience in UNIX shell scripting
• Knowledge in ETL with hands on experience using an ETL, preferably SQL Server Integration Services
• Experience developing technical documentation
• Good oral and written communications
• Teamwork attitude and very good interpersonal skills.
• Strong writing skills.
Hours of Work: The selected candidate is expected to work 7 hours/day.
Duration of the Consultancy: Estimated 11 Months
