Sandvik Mining – Global Tools & Services is looking for,
Manager – Environment, Health and Safety
Location: Pune, India
The Role:
This position is responsiblefor EHS activities of Rock Tools Production Unit, Pune. Full responsibility for the PU site plans, EHS development, reporting and adherence to Sandvik Group, Mining and local standards.
Key Performance Areas:
  • LTIFR, TRIFR, AIFR showing positive trends
  • NM and HAZ report >95% within stipulated time period.
  • Incident analysis, close out and implementation of effective actions.
  • Tracking and developing the site compliance in accordance with the EHS Plans, EHS 24 standard.
  • Interacting with global Mining global safety colleagues / management as well as local counterparts and management.
Detailed Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordination of EHS activities with Site MR, Site Safety Officer and Country Strategic Business Support.
  • Site Implementation of SA8000 guidelines, Audit compliance.
  • Preparation & upload of EHS documents for Dept Manual along with Mining-Rock Tools Divisional Manual. External & Internal EHS Audit compliance & follow-up for PU
  • Maintaining Visitor PPE’s , First Aid boxes, Fire Extinguishers & drinking water dispensers.
  • Arrange & monitor progress of Safety Walks, Safety Talks, EHS trainings & EHS MP’s and undertake follow-up communications.
  • Monthly reporting of all EHS data as per Sandvik group guidelines.
  • Statutory compliance pertaining to periodic health check of employees, Stamping/verification of weighing scales, Inspection of blasting chambers, Cranes/hoists, Lifting slings & belts by Competent Authorities.
  • FM Global Audit, Sustainability Audit & Global EHS Audit compliance & progress follow-up communications.
  • Co-ordinating fumigation & insecticide spraying for pest & rodent control.
  • Imparting induction training to probationers & trainees.
  • 24 Global EHS Standards progress monitoring, follow-up & reporting.
  • Site EHS Plan preparation, progress monitoring, follow-up & reporting.
  • EHS data for Board & Audit presentations, Maintaining & communicating training attendance records.
  • Local administrator for Cintellate database training, reporting, investigation & analysis and effective Hazard/Incidence closure .
  • Liasoning with Local Govt bodies (Factory Inspectorate, MPCB & PESO) along with Site EHS & Legal cell for statutory compliance purpose.
  • Co-ordinating & arranging all activities planned during Safety Week.
  • Co-ordination & involvement in Energy & Electrical Safety Audits of Site.
  • Co-ordination for Site emergency evacuation Mock drills conducted for SAPL site.
  • Analysis of chemicals being introduced in the PU from EHS point of view.
  • Monthly review of PU performance on EHS front with Global EHS Co-ordinator
  • EHS Compliance checklist updating in e-compliance management tool of SAPL site.
  • Co-ordination & involvement in evolving on-site emergency plans for emergency preparedness purpose.
  • PPE suitability analysis with Suppliers & Site Safety Officer.
  • Quarterly updates to workforce on PU EHS performance.
  • Involvement in Risk analysis review of footprint projects & ERM assessments.
Your Profile:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in production shop and necessary certifications for holding Safety position.
