From Johnnie Walker to Smirnoff, Diageo is searching for Modern Apprentices from different backgrounds who have a voracious appetite for manufacturing culture and supply chain practices. We operate in a world full of heritage and innovation where age old craftsmanship meets cutting edge science and latest engineering technology, and over the three year programme with us you’ll grow your expertise within the Spirit Supply Centre that is responsible for the day to day management of Diageo’s maturing Scotch and Rum stocks held across Scotland.

To be a great apprentice you’ll need to be highly practical, a great problem solver and interested in how things move and work. In addition you will be an enthusiastic learner willing to grow and develop throughout a 3 year Apprenticeship and have a desire to take on more responsibility as your career develops. Not only will you successfully manage to gain valuable work experience, but you’ll also learn both practical skills and theory at a local college and achieve industry standard qualifications and have the opportunity to become ‘Time Served’ and continue to a long and prosperous career with a global innovative and fast moving organisation.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for candidates to work within a small, dynamic team to help manage the selection, logistical movements and quality assurance activities associated with all Scotch Whisky and Rum blending operations. The Modern Apprentice role provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad skill set within a multi discipline working environment, while working towards a structured SVQ certified qualification (level 3 and above) in Supply Chain and Business Administration over a three year period. Your main responsibilities will be associated with the management of whisky stocks, 3rd party supply contracts, spirit quality and record management across the department.  Initially, you will be focused on two key areas: Inventory Management and Quality. Further responsibilities within the department will develop in years 2 – 3 of the apprentice programme, enabling you to continue to develop your operational capabilities. You will also be able to take advantage of other projects and opportunities within the department to further develop your capabilities and contribution to the wider business.
 
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Minimum of 3 Standard Grades at Level 3 or above (to include Maths and English).
  • Must qualify for Modern Apprentice programme criteria (as detailed on Skills Development Scotland)
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive and flexible attitude
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work ethos both individually and as part of a team
  • General computer system knowledge and experience preferred – ability to functionally use Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint are beneficial. 
  • Full UK driving license is preferable but not essential.
