European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) is currently seeking candidates (F/M) for the post of Senior Policy Officer (corporate reporting profile) - grade AD7, Investors & Issuers Department, Paris, France.
ESMA is an independent European Union (EU) Authority whose main mission is to enhance investors’ protection and promote stable and orderly financial markets.

Job framework & profile:

The Investors & Issuers Department is responsible for providing expertise in a wide range of securities markets and investor topics, including Corporate Reporting, Investment Management, Investor Protection & Intermediaries and Financial Reporting. The Corporate Reporting team is looking for a candidate with an expertise of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and experience in the audit area in relation to the specific provisions derived from the new Audit Regulation.
Under the supervision of the Corporate Reporting Team Leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • conducting policy work (drafting guidelines, analyzing complex accounting practices, drafting comments’ letters etc.) related to IFRS accounting and more generally in the area of financial reporting of listed companies, according to the Transparency Directive;
  • participation and, sometimes, leading of the works of the various project streams assigned that ESMA is setting up to fulfil its tasks in that area;
  • representing ESMA in meetings with internal and external stakeholders;
  • developing a smooth cooperation and communication between the different members of the team, as well as across the rest of the Department and across ESMA.

Key requirements:

  • at least six years of experience (acquired after the required level of education, see part 3A of the vacancy notice) in the area of financial reporting or auditing gained either:
i. in the supervision or regulation of market participants (e.g. enforcement);
or
ii. in a similar function in the private sector (e.g. external audit);
  • excellent written and oral English.
