The University's IT Services department provide innovative, reliable IT services which are continually adapted to meet the changing needs of staff and students, supporting them to become world class professionals.
IT Services assist students, staff and guests in their use of MMU systems, helping them work smarter, faster and easier. We maintain a high level of IT Services throughout the University:
  • Support for all students, staff and visitors via our IT helpline, which operates 24/7
  • Desktop IT support for all staff at MMU
  • A range of resources, including FAQs and online support materials
  • Bespoke courses to train staff on the use of IT systems
  • Support for research and academic enterprise activities, along with support for events and conferences.

Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join IT Services at Manchester Metropolitan University as an IT Professional.
This hands-on role requires an enthusiastic and innovative individual with a track record of delivering outstanding customer service. The candidate must possess outstanding Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac support skills, and have a proven track record of successfully managing / delivering projects.
You will be a key player in one of IT Services busiest teams, supporting a number of MMU service departments and three faculties including HLSS, Manchester School of Art, and Hollings.
Although initially based in this team, you may be required to work at any of MMU’s other sites with reasonable notice.
Ideal Candidate
The role holder must be able to:
  • Lead significant projects, review and enhance service provision, and take an active role in team development
  • Liaise with faculty and campus-based services staff to ensure delivery of quality customer-focused services
  • Work closely with colleagues from other areas to identify and implement opportunities for integrated service provision.
  • Plan and prioritise own workload and, where applicable, that of others
  • Identify appropriate service level targets taking into account available resources
  • Monitor and report on service levels achieved (and to take corrective action where appropriate)
  • Plan and manage complex projects of a technical nature, balancing available resources (people, finance and technology) and monitoring progress against plans
  • Develop, maintain and apply a significant breadth and depth of current technical and professional expertise
  • Take a lead on professional development for members of their team
  • understand customer requirements and to develop relationships and contacts
