Holt International Children’s Services (HICS), is an organization with over 50 years of experience in implementing programs for vulnerable children around the world, that emphasize family preservation, adoption and other family-based care alternatives to institutionalization. HICS seeks mission-driven individual to direct international programs for homeless children in Africa. The Director of Programs ensures quality services to children and families by maintaining effective relations with partner agencies and government officials, developing and monitoring work and budgets to meet objectives and providing technical assistance in child and family welfare & program capacity building, intercountry adoption, and program management.

The ideal candidate will be a mission driven, child welfare professional with extensive international experience and the ability to direct, develop and support a range of programs serving orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in Africa. The position also requires exceptional communication skills and cross-cultural awareness to effectively advocate with government officials, supervise key overseas personnel and provide training and technical assistance for in-country staff.

Qualified candidate has advanced degree in child welfare or related field and is a seasoned manager with minimum 5 years, progressive experience directing complex overseas programs. Prefer background in social work, child welfare, inter-country adoption & work history in assigned region. Position is located in Eugene, OR with up to 35% travel annually to Uganda, Ethiopia and other countries in Africa as assigned.
