Deputy Director, Data Center

This position is located in the Department of the Treasury, Office of Financial Research (OFR), Data Center.  The OFR was established by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act to serve the Financial Stability Oversight Council (Council), its member agencies, and the public by improving the quality, transparency, and accessibility of financial data and information, by conducting and sponsoring research related to financial stability, and by promoting best practices in data and risk management.
The Data Center is responsible for the:
  • Collection, validation, and maintenance of data from Council member agencies, publicly available data sources, and financial entities;
  • Promotion of stronger global data standards and best practices to support assessment of threats to financial stability; and
  • Provision of data-related services to the Council and its members, as well as publication of data for use by the public.
The Deputy Director of the Data Center reports to, and advises, the Director of the OFR, liaises with stakeholders, and directs the full range of operations of the OFR’s Data Center.  In this context, the incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating the activities managed by the Data Center’s Chief Technology Officer, Chief Business Officer, and nine Associate Directors.  These functions include information and standardization strategy; data and enterprise analysis; data consulting and data services, including data acquisition, collection, validation, storage, and distribution services; technology strategy; information security; systems engineering; application development; and data management and administration.
