Role Overview
Working in the Western Balkans, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine team within the Financial Institutions Business Group, the core role is to provide support and participate in the preparation, appraisal and monitoring of projects under direct and continuous supervision of Operation Leaders. Projects involve the provision of finance (including debt and equity) to local financial intermediaries within the EBRD’s country of operations together with associated technical assistance. 
The key focus will be on the credit and financial aspects of project development and implementation with special responsibility for financial modelling and analysis, but the analyst will be expected to participate in all aspects of project development and implementation. An Analyst may progress to more complex aspects of transaction processing, progressively gaining more responsibilities.
This is a 16 month short-term position is based in London HQ with travel to the field required.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Responsible for the credit and financial aspects of project development, including financial analysis of companies - data gathering, construction and analysis of financial projections and models; structuring and monitoring of financing agreements.
    Research, analyse and provide background information into companies.
    Provide support for more senior bankers, drafting specific assigned portions of Bank documents and correspondence.
  • Participate in project implementation, including administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project monitoring of portfolio financial institutions.
  • Attend meetings with clients with more senior bankers and liaise with the Bank’s internal Credit department, and other support units.
  • Work on ad-hoc research requests and other team administrative matters.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualification
  • Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance)
  • 2-3 years of relevant and commercial work experience (e.g. banking, finance, accounting, audit or project finance) gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm.
  • Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis
  • Proven analytical skills; strong numerical and financial skills, with ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models
  • Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Fluency in one or more languages of our countries of operation and/or a major international language and / or work experience in emerging markets is an advantage.
