Fairfood International is a non-profit, global advocacy group with its head office in Amsterdam and hubs located in several parts of the world. Fairfood International encourages food and beverage companies worldwide to address socio-economic and environmental sustainability issues within their supply chains. Researcher, Food Issues

Purpose of the position
Strategically, Fairfood International uses its advocacy interventions to encourage transparency, innovation and change in policies and practices from food & beverage companies. In this, we focus on particular issues in specific countries. To complement and support these specific interventions, the Researcher, Food Issues has responsibility for mapping trends in the food and beverage industry globally and for developing scenarios for the prospects for sustainable farming over the next ten years. This analysis is intended to inform Fairfood International’s strategic decision-making processes and populate our Food Issues Map (for more information, see: http://www.fairfood.org/food-issue-map/)
Department
The Operations Department provides support to the Fairfood International’s other departments and its Board of Directors on operational and strategic issues. The Department consists of experts in the field of Finance, Human Resources, Quality Management, ICT, Legal and Evaluation and Impact Assessment. It is led by the Director of Global Operations, who is a member of the Board of Directors. You will work closely with the Director of Global Operations and with the Senior Manager Evaluation and Impact Assessment.
Your competencies
You are studying at or have graduated from a higher education institution (MA or MSc). Knowledge of the food and beverage industry or a degree related to development studies, agricultural economics, environmental studies, business studies and sustainable development is an asset. You have excellent verbal and written skills in English. Being able to work in other languages is an asset.
As a successful applicant, you are also results-oriented, analytical, quality focused and able to work within agreed deadlines. Furthermore, you are able to work independently, and often flexibly, but are also a team player. You must have affinity with Fairfood International’s goals

This is an unpaid position suitable as an internship of 3 or ideally 6 months’ duration during which you will be able to obtain work experience in a fast-growing and professional international sustainability organization. It offers you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about the food industry, campaigning, advocacy and sustainability analysis. You will have the freedom and opportunity to continue developing yourself and achieve tangible results. We value our employees and fully recognize that flexibility in your working hours might be important for you. Work-home travels are reimbursed. We do expect, however, that you will work a minimum of 16 hours a week over a period of three months.
