Manager - Geotechnical Engineering

Our Client –

A mid tier diversified exploration and production mining company with operations throughout the African continent, is looking to recruit a Manager - Geotechnical Engineering to be based at their Head Office.  

Job Description –

The Manager - Geotechnical Engineering will be responsible for managing all aspect of geotechnical engineering for the company's projects in South Africa and other African countries. The role will require this person to develop the company's current geotechnical capabilities as it moves from early exploration stage onto the initial production stage with its key projects, together with providing leadership, guidance, training and mentoring of the geotechnical staff. The individual will be responsible for compiling reports related to Geotechnical engineering and review project technical reports and to implement and manage best practice guidelines at the company's projects with respect to data capture, QAQC and geotechnical modelling. Your previous experience in a wide variety of underground mining techniques including backfill and pastefill operations together with large scale open pit mining operations will be to your advantage.

Candidate Requirements –

The role requires a degree in geology, geotechnical or mining engineering together with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering working in a number of environments. Registration or ability to register with SACNASP or associated professional body is necessary. French language skills would be an advantage.
