SENIOR PLANNING ENGINEER Rural Electrification Agency
The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the Secretariat of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) as established by Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 75. The REB's main function is to oversee the management of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and facilitate the development and implementation of rural electrification projects under several sources of funding (i.e. Government of Uganda, World Bank under Energy for Rural Transformation, (ERT) project, SIDA, JICA, etc.,)
In order to fulfill the above mandate, REA now invites applications for the following posts:
POST; SENIOR PLANNING ENGINEER (3)
MAIN TASK:
To undertake project identification, “feasibility studies, and packag¬ing of projects for public or private investments
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
a) Undertake the identification of a pipeline of projects for investment in line with established guidelines.
b) Undertake systems analysis of existing and planned power lines.
c) Assist the Principal Planning Engineer to prepare TORs for fea¬sibility studies, power line surveys and engineering designs for identified projects.
d) Review Consultant's feasibility study reports and provide perti¬nent comments for the Consultants' benefit.
e) Prioritize the individual projects in line with established criteria and put them in packages for presenting to funding agencies for investment.
f) Participate in the procurement process as required from time to time in line with the procurement guidelines.
g) Gather and prepare project data for the GIS database and REA website updates.
h) Carry out any other duties specified by the Supervisor.

Job requirement
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
a) A good Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from a rec¬ognized University or its equivalent.
b) Post Graduate Degree in Power Systems Planning and Design or Project Planning and Management will be added advantage.
Key Experience:
a) 5 years working experience with at least 3 years experience in power systems planning, protection, operation and maintenance or construction supervision of power lines
b) Must be knowledgeable about surveys and engineering drawings
c) Knowledge of project software and power system analysis software will be an added advantage.
Key skills and competences
a) Highly motivated, innovative, pro-active and committed team player
b) Report writing.
c) High level of computer literacy, with experience in the use of relevant packages.
Age Limit
Must not be more than 35 years old
