Assistant Accountant Management Sciences for Health (MSH)

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is an international non-profit, public health organisation with headquarters in USA, whose purpose is to strengthen health programs worldwide. MSH Uganda is currently running a number of USAID and other donor funded projects, both in Kampala and other parts of the country including SURE and STRIDES.

SURE (Securing Ugandans' Right to Essential Medicines) will ensure that the population of Uganda has access to adequate quantities of good quality essential medicines and health supplies (EMHS) by strengthening the national essential medicines and health commodities supply system.

STRIDES for Family Health strengthens the capacity of the health system in fifteen (15) selected districts in Uganda to make them fully functional and able to deliver quality integrated reproductive health/family planning (RH/FP) and child survival (CS) services to the people in need of these services.
MSH now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions in the SURE and STRIDES projects:

5. Assistant Accountant - located in Jinja Regional Office • STRIDES Project
Overall responsibilities:
• Responsible for providing accounting support to the STRIDES for Family Health Project, ensuring that all financial activities of the Project are conducted in accordance with MSH financial policies and procedures
• Ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded, bank reconciliations are done and all staff advances are paid and reconciled on time
• Responsible for producing regular Regional Office Financial reports
• Assist in preparing budgets and cash flow forecasts for the Regional Office
• Safe guard of MSH assets against fraud, loss or damage

Job requirement

Qualifications:
1) Degree in Accounting from a recognized University
2) 3 years of demonstrated financial and administrative experience in large or international organizations
3) Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications particularly Word & Excel
4) A firm understanding of Accounting and financial management principles, ability to create and monitor budgets
5) Experience in management of motorcycles
6) Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and work independently, and pays attention to details
7) Knowledge of USAID regulations preferred
