Position Summary

IREX is currently collecting CVs for our Chief of Party/Project Director (COP/PD) roster. Individuals should be able to demonstrate experience in managing civil society development programs, and have a proven track record of providing expertise through training, mentoring, analysis or on-site consulting in one or more of the following areas:
  • Citizen participation and advocacy
  • Community and social development
  • Association building and networking
  • Organizational capacity building
  • Technology access and training
  • Women’s empowerment
  • Anti-trafficking
  • Anti-corruption
  • Youth empowerment

Duties & Responsibilities

IREX Chiefs of Party/Project Directors (COPs/PDs) maintain overall responsibility for meeting program objectives and are based in the country of performance. Among other duties COPs/PDs:
  • Provide vision and strategic direction for the program
  • Develop and implement a plan of activities to meet program objectives
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with local partners
  • Serve as primary liaison with program funders
  • Coordinate with local, regional and international organizations active in similar sectors
  • Manage and mentor project staff
  • Coordinate with home office
  • Oversee project budgeting and ensure budget discipline
  • Oversee monitoring, evaluation and reporting on program activities

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing donor-funded activities required; USAID experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience in civil society development preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver effective capacity building programming and/or professional consultations in one or more of the mentioned areas of civil society sector support Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, manage budgets and plan strategically and creatively to meet specified objectives
  • Strong representational and organizational skills required
  • Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English required; knowledge of additional language(s) preferred
