Communication-Media Specialist: Vietnam
The Communication-Media Specialist will independently provide all labor, supplies, material and equipment in support of the Organization and the PEPFAR Mission by providing the following services:
•Formalize and implement the Vietnam’s organization communication and media strategy identifying opportunities to highlight Organization’s support for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment activities (PEPFAR), and Influenza activities in Vietnam. Key activities could include but are not limited to signing ceremonies, facility openings, Ambassador/front office visits, etc.
•Develop a series of one page fact sheets promoting and describing each of the Organization’s Vietnam program areas such as HIV/AIDS (PEPFAR), Influenza, outbreak investigation, and support to the National TB Program.
•Working with the Vietnam staff and partner organizations, develop a series of Vietnam success stories, focusing on milestones, key events, and successes for internal and external publication.
•Assist staff in creating and publishing talking points, bulletins, weekly reports, special announcements that highlight Organization’s achievements.
•Review and update the Vietnam program overview power point presentation and plan for semi-annual revisions.
•Work with Vietnam leadership, Organization’s headquarters, and Embassy Hanoi to ensure Organization in Vietnam compliance with communications policies, branding standards and related regulations.
•Formalize and implement a process for planning events and facility openings, in order to ensure adequate Organization representation.
•Research proper protocol and local Vietnamese customs for taking and using photographs in publications and incorporate into internal communications policies. Create a formal process and draft necessary release forms for use at events and site visits.
•Develop a system to maintain public relations materials including: brochures, fact sheets, profiles; presentations/visual displays; and success stories for publication and for reporting to Atlanta and Washington.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of general experience in communications in public service positions in international settings, with at least 2 years of specialized experience in health communications and/or media relations with a major US public health service provider. •Multi-language skills, including fluency in English and French or Vietnamese is required. •A university degree in the Liberal Arts, Political Science, Journalism, International Relations, Public Health, or related fields.
•Experienced with most software in Microsoft Office (Minimum: Word, Excel, Powerpoint). •Demonstrated communications expertise on issues related to HIV and AIDS.
•Specialized training in press, publications, radio or audiovisuals.
•High degree of judgment, maturity, ingenuity and originality to interpret technical and political opportunities and constraints.
•Full time position until March 2012 then long term part time work
