Consultant in Early Learning Challenges for Kuwait Teachers' Association

The Kuwait Teachers' Association seeks the professional services of a Consultant in the field of Early Learning Challenges generally and in particular in the field of awareness and training to support the ongoing efforts of the Kuwait Teachers' Association to raise awareness of educational problems during the early years and during the primary stage of studies. The Consultant will help the Kuwait Teachers' Association transfer knowledge and build capacity amongst teachers and educationalists affiliated with the Association by empowering them with the necessary tools and expertiese to overcome educational and learning challenges common amongst early years and primary stage students.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a survey study of early learning challenges which face educationalists during the stages of nursery and primary years and analyse the data from the survey study;
  • Raise the level of awareness of early learning challenges by utilizing media outlets in Kuwait, especially Kuwait TV, radio, print media and press conferences. Such awareness activities must be on-going throughout the entire period of the project;
  • Develop and provide a number of resources (practical educational resources) on how to link home and school and how to make the relationship between them stronger. This can be done by providing consultancies for teachers and parents and by producing questionnaires and booklets on how to overcome such learning challenges;
  • Train teachers, parents and educational specialists on how to overcome early learning challenges by conducting 10 training courses specialized in early learning challenges which vary in length and duration and focus.

Objectives:

  • Raise awareness of early learning challenges and identify such challenges common during the early years and during the primary stage;
  • Develop and provide a number of educational practical resources and tools to strengthen the relationship between home and school in order to overcome the learning challenges students suffer from during this period;
  • Train teachers, parents and educational specialists on how to overcome the learning challenges during nursery and primary stage.

Expected Outputs:

  • Awareness campaign on early learning challanges;
  • Survey study on types and background knowledge on early learning challanges;
  • 10 training courses on how to overcome early learning challanges;
  • A set of resources for teachers, parents and educational specialists to be used with students who are suffering from early learning challenges.

Competencies

  • The ability to speak English and Arabic fluently;
  • Past relevant expertise in executing similar projects and past publications in the area of the project;
  • Past relevant expertise in organizing and delivering training courses;
  • A PhD in the field of speciality (Education);
  • Previous work in the State of Kuwait is preferred.

Required Skills and Experience

A PhD in the field of speciality is required.
