Located in the Laverton Gold region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia's Sunrise Dam is Western Australia's premier gold mine. This open pit and underground operation employs more than 600 people and produces 400,000 oz of gold per annum. Accountable to the Senior Metallurgist, the Production Metallurgist is a key site based role. This role is accountable for carrying out process engineering, monitoring and investigation to quantify mill-operating parameters and provide technical support to Mill Operating personnel in order to achieve optimum mill efficiency. Other accountabilities will include:
- Providing day to day technical support/advice and identifying/troubleshooting any necessary process development work;
- Critically reviewing operating and technical data on a daily basis;
- Ensuring that all reported metallurgical and operating data is valid and providing reports on such data when required;
- Ensuring that the metallurgical system and CiTect Operator Interface System are operable with a focus on continual development and optimisation;
- Identifying any equipment malfunctions that may detrimentally affect operating efficiency or plant integrity; and
- Taking charge of the day-to-day operation of the plant or section of the plant as required.
Successful applicants will possess;
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering;
- 2+ years in mineral processing;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Sound analytical, planning, implementation and supervisory skills together with the ability to utilise gained knowledge;
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
- Excellent organisational and prioritising skills;
Applicants with a working knowledge of Process Control systems (such as CiTect or similar), SAP and the use of Microsoft Access and SQL databases will be highly regarded.
