Staff Health Coordinator
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian organization, providing assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. The IFRC carries out relief operations to assist victims of disasters, and combines this with development work to strengthen the capacities of its member National Societies. The IFRC's work focuses on four core areas: promoting humanitarian values, disaster response, disaster preparedness, and health and community care.
The Staff health coordinator leads the staff health team which is part of the human resources department and s/he takes care of health of all Federation staff in Haiti. The staff health coordinator reports to the Human Resources Coordinator.
Description of duties:
- Ensure that daily activities in the health clinic are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Ensure that all staff at the clinic is well introduced and supported in their work.
- Liaise with other coordinators to ensure healthy and safe working and living conditions at the base camp. Monitor staff health in the Red Cross Base camp with special focus on the communicable diseases, hygiene and sanitation. To produce timely alerts as necessary.
- Visit regularly all working sites and advice on the issues related to staff health and well being.
- Ensure that staff health plan is actively implemented within budget and according good quality standards.
- Attend meetings as appropriate and liaise with representatives from counterparts from Participating National Societies, ICRC and external partners.
- Provide timely reports on staff health and advise management on decisions concerning staff health and well being
Lateral relationships
- Ensure effective working relationship with the Health Officer, HR in Geneva.
- Ensure effective working relationships with National Society counterparts and leadership.
- Ensure effective working relationships with other members of the International Movement.
- Ensure effective working relationships with technical teams and services units and departments at zone and global secretariat level.
Required qualifications :
Education:
Relevant university degree or equivalent qualification as medical doctor or nurse
Relevant advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) or equivalent qualification in public or tropical health, preferred
Basic Delegates Training Course or equivalent knowledge
Languages;
Fluent in English
Working knowledge in French - preferred
Experience:
5 to 7 years public or occupational health management
3 to 7 years experience at a emergency medical department or room and with excellent clinical experince
3 years experience in large complex operations - Preferred
3 years experience in working for a humanitarian aid organisation in a low-income least-developed countries preferred
Familiarity with current medical standards and guidelines (required)
Previous long-term missions in Haiti - preferred
Acquainted with International Federation policies, procedures and systems - strongly preferred
Volunteer and/or work experience at national and/or international level in the RC/RC, preferred
Skills:
Working knowledge in Spanish and/or Creole, preferred
Strong clinical skills
Excellent communication skills
Good analytical skills and solution focused person
Demonstrable accountability
Ability to work well in a multicultural team
Excellent stress management skills
Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word-processing, email, etc.)
