Audit Manager, Global Internal Audit

To plan, supervise and finalize financial audit activities assigned to financial auditors. To plan and develop suitable financial audit procedures, materials and manuals as needed based on current accounting literatures. To give oversight to the training program for World Vision International Internal Lead Auditors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Manage a team of auditors based overseas and ensure that their work is aligned with professional and department standards. Identify and correct any issues in the quality of the work and staff performance. Quickly discern between material and immaterial issues. Display a solid understanding of the linkages between observations, evidence, findings and recommendations. Mentor staff members according to World Vision’s “Coaching for Performance.”
    • Issue audit reports in a timely manner. Provide clear, constructive feedback to staff by staying current on workpaper reviews.
    • Recognize that WV’s approach to auditing is evolving just as the environment where WV works is evolving. Suggest innovative changes to ensure effective, efficient audits. Update or develop the department’s audit programs, standard workpapers and other tools as necessary to respond to internal WV trends or to broader external trends affecting the audit profession or the humanitarian industry. Interpret and communicate emerging trends from audit results.
    • Identify partnership risks/issues when prioritizing and planning the department’s core activities by approving appropriate APMs, assisting in the prioritization of the annual plan, etc.
    • Delegate work to achieve optimal results.
    • Develop or update training materials and facilitate high-value training sessions.
    • Perform overseas audits or special reviews based on the department’s needs. (Typically one or two per year, each with duration up to 4 weeks).
    • Develop in-depth expertise in technical area(s) as assigned. Complete appropriate CPEs to maintain technical competence.
    • Propose and/or mediate effective solutions to problems and conflicts as they arise.
    • Attend and participate in weekly chapels and daily devotionals.
    • Carry out other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
    • Assess the qualifications of overseas audit candidates; select and hire appropriate staff.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
      REQUIRED:
    • Requires a college degree and three to five years experience in auditing large corporations; experience in a Big 4 public accounting environment preferred.
    • Must have Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualification.
    • Management experience in an auditing environment also required.
    • Requires cross-cultural experience and an understanding of Third World Development.
    • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and writing skills required.
    • Ability to travel up to 40% of time is an essential function of the position.

      PREFERRED:
    • Language skills in Spanish
