Building on Restless Development’s successful track record, this is an exceptional opportunity to join the Senior Management Team of the organisation in the delivery of an ambitious new global strategy.
Restless Development is looking for an enthusiastic finance professional who can play a key role in working alongside the Chief Executive and Directors as a strategic business partner, to help inform the strategic development and business planning of the organisation’s capacity to achieve its mission. Leading and delivering Restless Developments financial strategy, management, reporting, governance, and compliance.
A strong finance professional with proven leadership and hands-on finance management skills, you will have the outstanding communication abilities necessary to work collaboratively with the other members of our senior management team and overseas staff to lead Restless Development’s direction and growth.

Salary
Approximate gross annual salary – GBP 47,000, (Net annual salary: GBP 34,000). This allows for a very fair system for all staff across the world and enables us to have an equitable Global Salary Scale reflective of our values.
Benefits
24 days annual leave, rising to maximum of 28 days with additional years of service. International Travel & Medical Insurance whilst travelling overseas and 5% Employer Pension Contribution.

The Finance Director will be part of the Senior Management Team and will direct and oversee all financial activities to ensure that the organisation can deliver an ambitious new global strategy.
Main Responsibilities
The Finance Director is part of Restless Development’s Senior Management Team. The Finance Director’s main duties, delivered directly and through leadership of the International Finance Team, are;

  • Organisational Strategy and Planning
Secretary to Trustee Finance & Audit Committee, and Finance Chair of PPA Consortium Working Group
Financial Management and Accountability 30%
  • Oversees all accounting procedures and systems in Restless Development. Ensuring all financial records and reporting systems are in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and accounting principles, with appropriate internal controls.
  • Analyses, monitors, and presents consolidated financial position to Chief Executive, senior management team, Finance and Audit Committee and Trustees
  • Maintains an annual calendar of financial management and risk minimization activities (e.g., budget development to audit completion).
  • Oversees Global cash flow and controls cash management across all of Restless Development, and ensure appropriate global treasury and banking solutions.
  • Ensure financial information is used effectively at all levels in the organisation for decision-making purposes.
  • Ensure Value for Money/Cost-Benefit Analysis firmly embedded in management decision-making
Risk/opportunity assessment 20%
· Develop a Risk/opportunity forecasting and action planning system which is embedded in the management and planning processes, at all levels of the organisation; Trustee, Senior Management Team
  • Manage the financial risk across the organisation ensuring timely and accurate review of financial position, and effective management of foreign exchange risk.
Compliance and Transparency 20%
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations and requirements of Charities Commission and Companies House
  • Represents Restless Development in financial matters to the Charity Commission and Inland Revenue
  • Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to Trustees, tax returns, and reports for government regulatory agencies
  • Shares responsibility for the timely submissions of all grants and contract reporting
  • Oversees all annual audits, manages UK consolidated audit, and prepares management response to auditor letter
  • Leads the Internal Audit programme and ensures that all Internal Audit recommendations are followed up on a timely manner.
  • Ensure Restless Development achieves IATI (International Aid Transparency Initiative) compliance
Organisational Strategy and Planning 15%
· Delivery of first class business plan underpinning our new 2011-2015 Global Strategy, with multi-year financial budget projections.
  • Ensuring equitable pay structure, with annual reviews for presentation to SMT and Trustees for approval.
  • Contributes to the achievement of the company objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
Secretary to Trustee Finance & Audit Committee, and Finance Chair of PPA Consortium 10%
  • Serves as management liaison to Trustees’ Finance and Audit Committee
  • Produces quarterly financial report for presentation to the Trustees, including status update on Internal Audit recommendations.
  • Records minutes of all F&A Meetings, and communicates minutes to F&A Committee in a timely manner for review and approval
  • Perform Companies House Secretary duties
  • Finance Chair of the Working Group of the PPA Consortium
Other 5%
Other duties as required, sometimes requiring work on weekends, for which time off in lieu can be taken.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or recognised equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field of study
  • At least five year’s experience in finance management
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • Fluent written and spoken english
  • Excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in International Development, preferable
  • Experience in distance management and working with multiple offices, internationally preferable.

Individual must possess business astuteness, be results oriented, have demonstrated analytical skills, be forward thinking and be able to manage financial systems that are spread across 5 continents, with varying levels of management and size. Successful individual will have the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and manage working relationships with financial staff spread across 5 continents, with varying levels of financial management capacity and experience. Successful candidate will be personally committed to Restless Development’s mission and values.
