Chief Executive Officer Computer Aid International

Chief Executive Officer
November 2011
Computer Aid International has been working since 1998 to reduce poverty through practical ICT solutions. We provide high quality, professionally refurbished computers and laptops for reuse in education, health, agriculture and not-for-profit organisations in developing countries and work with partners to deliver training and support. We also work on initiatives designed to further increase access to ICT amongst poor and disadvantaged communities. Recent projects include the supply of telemedicine equipment, linking remote medical centres with city hospitals and specialists, the provision of solar-powered ICT solutions, rural wireless connectivity and, most recently, the launch of a new training enterprise based in our Nairobi office. We are also currently developing free and open source software for people who are blind or visually impaired.
We operate a social enterprise model, generating more than half of our income from fees for products and services which helps ensure our responsiveness to the needs of our partners and beneficiaries.
We are seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to take the charity forward and build on its successes. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our organisation in making a positive contribution to the provision of information and communication technologies in international development. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of fundraising and income generation in a charity or social enterprise, an understanding of excellent customer service along with an understanding of the use of ICTs in a development context.
The salary £52 - £55K per annum plus a 3% contributory pension
The post will be located in Computer Aid’s head office in London, but it will include regular travel to our office in Nairobi and to our partners overseas.
