The African Union, established as a unique Pan African continental body, is charged withspearheading Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development by promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion and cooperation among the peoples of Africa and African States as well as developing a new partnership worldwide. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, capital city of Ethiopia.



In seeking to achieve this objective, the African Union intends to strengthen itscapacity to deliver by, among others, the implementation of its organizational structure and the filling of all vacant posts.



The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for the position in the Directorate for Administration and Human Resources Development.

JOB TITLE: Human Resource Data ProcessingClerk

GRADE: GSA5

DEPARTMENT: Directoratefor Administration and Human Resources Development
UNIT: HumanResource Development Division
SUPERVISOR: Head of Human Resource Development Division

DUTY STATION: AddisAbaba



2. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


· Tocollect, analyse, classify, search and update Human Resource Data and generateappropriate Human Resource Data Reports in order to facilitate the operationand work of the Division;



· To maintain detailed Human Resource Management Data systems and other functionalspecifications and user documentation for use of the Division;





· To plan Human Resource Data programmes, their intent, output requirements natureand sources of raw data, internal checks and other controls required and usespecification and instructions devtoped by the Systems Analyst;



· To establish and maintain an HR documentation and filing system;
· To collect, classify compile and analyse data in order to facilitate HumanResource Operations;

· To ensure appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues;

· To assist in the design and installation of an up-to-date filing system for easyaccess by users, and ensure that data entry procedures conform to modern practices;



· To ensure that the reports generated from the systems are adapted to the reportingneeds of the Division;





· To perform any other duty as may be assigned.



3. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:


Candidates must have minimum of an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, any other relevant qualification would bean added advantage.

4. WORK EXPERIENCE:


Candidates must have at least 5 yearsin the use of Human Resource Computer programmes particularly in data collection and compilation analysis.

5. OTHER RELEVANT SKILL REQUIRED:

· Computerliterary
· Workingknowledge of data analysis and development, implementation and monitoring.
· Excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate others and to work ina multi-cultural environment.
· Excellentdrafting and reporting skills.
· Goodcommunication and negotiating skills.
· Goodplanning and organizational skills.

6. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT:

Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Knowledge of other working languages would be an added advantage.


7. AGE REQUIREMENT:



Candidates must preferably be between25 and 35 years old.



8. TENURE OF APPOINTMENT:



The appointment will be made on afixed term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelvemonths will be considered as a probationary period. Thereafter, the contractwill be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance.

Remuneration


Indicativebasic salary of US$14,145.00 perannum plus other related entitlements-e.g. post adjustment (46% of basic salaryper annum), Housing allowance ($12,006.60 per annum), education allowance (75%of tuition and other education related expenses for every eligible dependent upto a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc for internationallyrecruited staff of the commission.
