The Position

Job Summary:

Contribute to the strategic direction of the organization through programme policy development and the management of external partnerships


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Contribute to policy and planning dialogue both internally and externally, in coordination with the unit Director (Policy & Partnerships)/

Coordinate engagement with government departments across sectors and lead on establishing new relations.

Monitor government communication of new policies, regulations, or legislation and communicate changes to AKF staff.

Support the Director of Policy and Partnerships and coordinate with the Partnerships Manager in strategic engagement with donors, Government, and other NGOs on key policy issues.

Oversee the maintenance and follow up of the AKF Policy Matrix, and the mainstreaming of policy dialogue throughout the organisation, in collaboration with the Director.

In coordination with the CEO and Director of Policy and Partnerships, represent AKF in various external meetings, including policy fora, roundtables and working group meetings.

Develop plans in coordination with Regional Directors for provincial level policy dialogue.

Organize events/workshops that bring together government policy makers and AKF staff.

Contribute to dialogue on strategic direction in coordination with members of the senior management team.

Research and produce written documents that provide a basis for policy dialogue with government.

Assist the Communications Team in the preparation of strategic communications materials that are relevant to key policy issues.



The Requirements

Master's degree in relevant field and at least three years of experience in a similar or relevant field.

Experience working in a multicultural environment, preferably in a post-conflict one

Excellent English written and verbal skills

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Ability to critically analyze and provide constructive recommendations.

Good team player with ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues

Willingness to live and work in a post-conflict zones.
