Job Overview
The mandate of the Donor Partnership Division is to initiate, build, and maintain key long-term relationships with donors and other institutions committed to the development of Southern research capacities. The Division also strengthens the resource mobilization capacity of IDRC grantees to assist them in establishing and maintaining their own research agendas.
As a Project and Partnership Officer, you will support various partnership and resource mobilization initiatives; and provide strategic advice to Program Area clients in developing strategies and processes as well as initiating and enhancing partnership relationships with multilateral and bilateral development institutions, foundations and the private sector. You will provide support in compiling specific donor information, proposal writing, negotiations with partners, budget preparation, and reviewing donor agreements. Also, you will develop, manage and monitor small research projects that relate to partnerships and resource mobilization.
Candidate Profile
Education
  • MPA, MBA or Masters degree in international development or marketing-related discipline
Experience
This position normally requires between 3 to 5 years of relevant donor partnership experience including a background in research, business, fundraising and/or international development which includes:
  • providing strategic advice;
  • planning and managing projects;
  • negotiating collaboration agreements;
  • preparing research documents, project proposals and budgets;
  • work experience in a developing country; and
  • capacity building in resource mobilization is an asset.
Note: Candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment at the level of Partnership Officer (CA $69,774 - CA $84,065).

Language
  • Bilingual position (English/French) at an intermediate level
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Canadian international development policies, priorities and key agencies
  • Knowledge of one or more geographical and thematic areas of interest to IDRC
  • Knowledge of donor environment and trend in financing for international development and research
  • Knowledge of basic resource mobilization techniques

Additional Information

This position requires a willingness to travel internationally, an average of 20 - 40 days per year.
