UHMG is currently expanding and is seeking a dynamic qualified individual to fill the following position as part of its team. This position requires a highly skilled person with the capacity and proficiency in data collection, processing, development, and maintenance, as well as savvy computer skills. The person should be result-oriented, and have strong conceptual and analytical skills. The position requires a flexible person, with the capacity to perform without supervision, and work beyond the required time to fulfill the organization’s goals. The position requires a person willing to travel to the field as and when the need arises.

POSITION : RESEARCH OFFICER -1 POST

DUTY STATION : UHMG HEAD OFFICE-KAMPALA

REPORTS TO : RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the research department of UHMG in the design and execution of research studies from time to time. The job holder will work hand in hand with the research Manager in the discussions and compilation of both programmatic and market research in evaluating programs and providing research information on local and International market trends, new developments and environments.

The position requires a flexible person, with the capacity to perform without supervision, and work,, beyond the required time to fulfill the organization’s goals. The position requires a person willing to travel to the field as and when the need arises.

Essential Job Functions:

The Research Officer will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:- – .

* Support on-going studies “providing monthly updates and insightful summaries.
* Participate in the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative research studies from inception to completion.
* Support in the training of appropriate team members to executive research projects, and effectively communicate goals, expectations, roles, and updates to all relevant teams.
* Employ appropriate and effective analytical techniques to synthesize and interpret consumer insights from data gathered and develop creative and engaging ways to communicate and present these consumer insights to key stakeholders.
* Conduct secondary analysis using syndicated research to explore audience segments and provide market intelligence that drives business strategy.
* Share market insights with internal clients, business partners and stakeholders to drive strategic decisions and business actions.
* Get involved in recruiting qualified research assistants for the particular project that is being performed.
* Prepare reports of the research that has been performed and make presentations in front of senior management.
* Plans, organizes, directs, controls and coordinates research and development activities within an organization.
* Analyze customer needs, perceptions, and behavior through a combination of proprietary and syndicated customer research studies.
* Develop research questionnaires, analyze and interpret the data, develop presentations and make recommendations on findings.
* Contribute to analysis of market environment & future trends; make recommendations based on findings.
* Publish regular updates on market environment to track company progress, provide customer data for marketing campaigns & customer analytics.






Requirement:

Minimum Requirements: A Bachelors degree in Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, Research or any other related field. A masters degree would be an added advantage. Knowledge in strategy design, data-processing and statistical analysis software, namely MS Access, Stata and SPSS, and proficiency in research design A MUST have. At least 5 years work experience in research and data management in a private sector or development organization. Must have participated in previous research activities. Proficiency in research design. Conversant with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Energetic, dynamic team player, and portray innovation. Focused, easily trainable, and flexible. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proposal writing, facilitation and presentation skills. Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate with staff effectively and work with a multi-cultural team within the organization. Have excellent record keeping, report ‘compilation, communication, and presentation skills. A self-starter, and able to work with minimum supervision. Able to work under pressure will competing deadlines.
