Responsible for the conduct of field experiments on crops and cropping systems in relation to technologies to increase crop and cropping system water productivity

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Supervise the implementation and conduct of field and greenhouse experiments relevant to increasing the water productivity of rice and rice-based cropping systems, including monitoring of crop, soil and water, and processing of plant and soil samples
• Coordinate with IRRI experimental station, IRS, post docs and NRS for the effective implementation of field and greenhouse experiments
• Enter and analyze experimental data, including statistical analyses; scrutinize data and results; prepare graphs
• Draft reports and present research results at meetings and local conferences/workshops
• Prepare data for input into crop models, and conduct basic simulations
• Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors

Qualification requirements
• BS in Agriculture or Agricultural Engineering
• At least 1 year experience in the conduct of field experiments and analysis of data, preferably experiments related to rice and water management
• Good skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Office software, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, in the use of statistical analysis software such as CropStat and R, and in use of software for preparing graphs
• Experience in the installation and maintenance of equipment for monitoring water depth, soil water status, and water flow; experience in monitoring crop development, growth, yield and yield components; experience in soil sampling for soil physical and chemical properties
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
