Strategic Development and Communications Officer Location: US, Virginia

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Strategic Development & Communications Officer in Arlington, VA. This position will move to the Washington DC office by the end of the year.
Position Responsibilities:
Provides full oversight of the SDC budget by:
· Preparing the annual G&A budget request in partnership with senior team members within the SDC group.
· Creating personalized monthly financials reports and leading quarterly financial review meetings for SDC leadership- the SVP and two division heads.
· Producing mid-year forecasts and year-end spending analyses.
· Proposing recommendations for cost savings as needed.
· Managing SDC’s relationship with internal stakeholders in the Corporate Finance department, and serving as their primary point of contact.
· Managing both G&A budgets across several accounts.
Ensures coordinated systems are in place to support SDC operations:
· Creating, strengthening and implementing essential workflow processes and systems to increase efficiencies and ensuring that SDC’s corporate-level communications and business development operational needs are met. Ensuring that these systems adapt as FHI 360 evolves.
· Identifying areas requiring improvement and developing solutions to address them.
· Developing and administering a standard SDC orientation for new SDC staff to ensure information is consistent.
Supports cross-organizational special projects as needed, including but not limited to strategic planning, fundraising operations, etc. Works in close coordination with the Senior Administrative Assistant. Provide assistance, and backing to SDC’s Core team of administrative assistants as needed. Establishes and manages strong relationships within SDC and across FHI 360. Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to think analytically and skilled at budgeting and reporting. Skilled at working on multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously. Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, matrix environment, under tight deadlines, without compromising quality. Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff. Ability to work with discretion, judgment, tact and poise.
Excellent organizational and project management skills. Perform detail-oriented work with a high level of accuracy. Possess strong interpersonal skills with sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political and ethical issues addressed by FHI 360. Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and communicate complex issues with discretion and ease. Flexibility and willingness to pitch in whenever needed to get the job done. Expertise in using Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience: BS/BA in communications, business development, international relations, or related field, and 5 - 7 years relevant budgeting work experience in a global organization; or MS/MA in related field and 3 - 5 years relevant budgeting work experience in a global organization.
