Youth and Capacity Development Advisor to Egypt

Would you like support building the capacities of Egyptian civil-society organizations e.g. in areas like human rights-based approaches, campaigning, advocacy, negotiations, lobbying, building coalitions and community mobilization. Then maybe this is the job for you!

The Youth and Capacity development Advisor will work closely together with the Development Support Centre (DSC)in Egypt and ActionAid Denmark regional office in Amman and shall among other things:

  • Assist DSC in their training program for advocacy and campaigning in the context of human rights-based approach and to work on developing a capacity building strategy on policy level with youth to promote for better democracy and good governance.
  • Support DSC during their implementation and monitoring of the capacity development activities, and amend the capacity development strategy accordingly.
  • Team up with 3-4 inspirators to coach campaigns managed by youth groups, CSOs and the like.

The Youth and Capacity Development Advisor shall among other things possess the following qualifications:

  • Hold a degree/Post graduate diploma preferably in Law, Human Rights, Development Studies or Public Administration or Social Work and minimum of 3 years post graduate work experience.
  • Practical experience in:

- Electoral campaigns and all related skills and knowledge.

- Designing and facilitating capacity building interventions for Community Based Organisations/private voluntary organisations/NGOs

- Facilitating youth training programmes and workshops/courses, particularly youth leadership training

  • Vast experience with monitoring and evaluation as well as organisational development.
  • Proven application of participatory methodologies in project planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Practical experience in facilitating proper planning and management of projects/resources and promotion of good internal governance in CBOs/NGOs
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience from developing countries; preferably the Middle East

19th December: Face-to-Face interviews with two selected candidates in Cairo with representatives from DSC and ActionAid Denmark regional office.

Starting date:

Contract start is 1stFebruary 2012 subject to approval of work and residence permit. The assignment is expected to last until 31.12.2013.
