At present, it is seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Statistician Evaluation Research and learning unit at its National Program Office Kabul – Afghanistan.
Job Summary: The successful candidate will take a lead position within the Evaluation, Research and Learning Unit. Increasingly, ERLU is responsible for the production of statistically valid, large-scale surveys and other quantitative research tools. The Statistician will take overall responsibility for the planning, design, data cleaning and analysis of all quantitative research. Working closely with other ERLU staff, the Quantitative Statistician will also assist with the development of appropriate databases, report writing and will help train AKF staff
Main Duties and Responsibilities: • Oversight and management of quantitative research • Survey methodology, sample selection, data cleaning and analysis of survey results • Technical supervision of regional survey staff • Mentoring and capacity building of ERLU technical staff and other national sector staff as needed. • Work closely with the ERLU Manager to ensure effective results based M&E • Undertake monitoring visits and evaluations of quantitative research projects in AKF Afghanistan (AKF) regions • Provide training and capacity building measures for the regional M&E staff • Demonstrate teamwork and extend cooperation with AKF Sector Managers • Other duties and responsibilities relevant to the position as assigned by the Director of Research, Learning and Evaluation
Required Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum 5 years of experience working in field of quantitative M&E • Bachelor Degree in Statistics, Economics, Political Science or other relevant field. Master’s Degree would be preferable. • Excellent command of English, ability to produce external and internal narrative and analytical programmatic reports • Excellent knowledge of survey and advanced statistical methods • Other Skills: Team leadership and staff management skills in multidisciplinary setting; excellent interpersonal communications and mentoring skills; ability and willingness to travel throughout the AKF Afghanistan programme areas; ability to both lead and work under other leadership • Excellent command of SPSS and MS Excel. Experience/knowledge of other statistics software packages, MS Access and other database programs would be an asset
