About the role

The Senior Humanitarian Emergencies Operations Manager is responsible for setting the direction and coordinating the activities of SCA emergency operations globally, with a particular focus on the Asia/Pacific Region. The position is responsible for building capacity, strengthening emergency preparedness and mobilising resources in response to emergencies in close collaboration with SCI and Country Offices. The position will be expected to assume the Response Team Leader function during the initial phase of any emergency response in the SE Asia/Pacific region. Support out of this specified region will be provided on a case-by-case basis.

Selection Criteria

• Significant demonstrated experience in shaping operational plans and developing organisational capacity in emergency preparedness and response. • 5 years field experience in a humanitarian emergency context. • Proven team management experience in an emergency response context. • High level of understanding in current and emerging policy issues in humanitarian work and child protection. • Prior experience working under extenuating circumstances (including unusually long hours at little or no notice, and the ability to travel internationally at very short notice). • Highly developed relationship building, influencing, negotiating & interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders on child rights issues. • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
