Communications Intern

Location	Washington, DC
Summary	Search for Common Ground’s Communications Department is seeking an intern for Winter/Spring 2012 The Communications Intern will assist in the design and implementation of many projects, including preliminary research for the Common Ground Awards, and contributing to and maintaining Search for Common Ground’s social media.
Responsibilities	Social Media Write and edit contributions to the Common Ground Blog, Twitter and Facebook pages Follow-up with in-field and DC staff for updates Take initiative to find new ways of communication conflict transformation to a broad audience The 2012 Common Ground Awards Research potential award recipients Assist in planning and organization of the ceremony Organize and maintain files for the awardees SFCG Website Participate in web redesign and content analysis SFCG Outreach Materials Help to write and design brochures and other outreach materials for country programs. Knowledge of InDesign is helpful.
Minimum Qualifications	Knowledge of and interest in communications Experience in using social media (Facebook, Twitter, Lunch, StumbleUpon, Digg, YouTube, WordPress, etc). Blogging experience is a plus Commitment to conflict resolution and or/international relations Independent worker not needing close supervision Excellent writing skills Self-starter; organized; detail-oriented Good Internet research skills Solid computer skills including Adobe Creative Suite
Salary	This is an unpaid internship
