Project Profile

The Republic of Uzbekistan has recieved 7 980 000 Islamic Dinars under the loan from the Islamic Development Bank to finance the “Construction and equipping of secondary schools, II phase” Project.

The project objectives to contribute to the developmental efforts of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan to increase access to and level of secondary education through construction of new secondary schools in various regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, predominantly in remote rural areas. Development plan provides for reform of education sphere, as a necessary prerequisite for sustainable economic development and integration of the country in the global community. The project plans to achieve the objective of improved quality of an access to education by construction of modern schools in rural areas and equipping them with necessary facilities, equipment and furniture.

The project includes the following components:
Component #1 – Civil works
Component #2 – Equipment, furniture, learning materials
Component #3 – Consultancy services and Audit
Component #4 – Training of teachers
Component #5 – Project Implementation Unit

Procurement of Goods and Works will be in accordance with the Guidelines for procurement of Goods and Works under the Islamic Development Bank Financing (May 2009). Acquisition of the services of the consultants will follow the Guidelines for the use of Consultants under the Islamic Development Bank Financing (May 2009).


Procurement of Works:
Procurement of Civil works will be procured through International Competitive Bidding limited to IDB member countries.

Selection of Consultants:

Consultancy services for the designing all necessary plans (general location plan, master plan, binding of the design to the site, site exploration, designing of pipelines and networks and communication lines in accordance with the allocated technical requirements, etc.) which visually can explain the design of 13 schools for 216 and 315 student places each. Supervision of construction will be procured through a competitive bidding process using QCBS method among the short-listed reputable consultancy firms from IDB member-countries.
