Purpose of the unit and the post

To re-enforce the organisation's knowledge on issues pertaining to migration in Europe.

Your task

• Analyse migration trends in Europe thereby assisting the Europe Mission in understanding the phenomenon • Analyse issues of particular concern (eg. unaccompanied minors, restoration of family links) • Establish contacts with migration responsible within European National Red Cross Societies and the Federation • In coordination with other ICRC delegations establish contacts with IO, NGO's, think tanks with activities for or particular knowledge of migrant issues • Carry out field assessments, in coordination with the concerned National Societies • Identify needs through exploratory missions and general assessment, and participate in the design of operational strategies and plan of actions • Contribute to internal reporting, analysis and discussions, including at institutional level

. Selection requirements

• University degree in social sciences, political sciences or law • Extensive knowledge of migration related issues in Europe (4 to 7 years professional experience, 3 to 5 in the field of migration for a humanitarian organisation) • Knowledge of English (fluent) and French, and Italian and/or Greek • Good computer skills, word, excel, internet, databases • Good networking and communication skills • Knowledge of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement is an asset.
