ICT Specialist in Switzerland

Main Responsibilities
Enable effective information management and communications, supported by appropriate technology and training for Medair HQ and assigned country programme(s). Develop a stable and standardised infrastructure in the field programme, following a well-defined roadmap. Provide daily support to field ICT Managers for procedural guidance and second level technical support to Field ICT Specialists.

Project Overview
Medair HQ provides operational guidance for country programmes and activities, along with both technical and compassionate support for our relief workers. HQ staff also promote the work of Medair to the world and raise and manage the funds needed to run our life-saving and sustaining programmes.

Key Activity Areas

ICT includes: internet communications, computers, servers and networks:

Support and Develop HQ ICT Infrastructure
Technical development, support and maintenance of assigned HQ systems
• Development of policies, processes and procedures for HQ ICT
• Design and implement new systems and system improvements
• Technical support and maintenance for assigned areas

ICT Officer for ICT in Assigned Country Programme(s)
Oversee implementation and management of field ICT structures in assigned country programmes, supporting ICT management and technical staff in the country programme:
• Development of policies, processes and procedures that cover all field ICT programmes.
• Check field ICT infrastructure and management meets requirements for Navigator roll-out.
• HQ link to field ICT staff.
• 2nd-level technical support for field ICT.
• HQ procurement for field.
• HQ account management for field.

Field Visits
• Visit assigned country programmes:
• to audit ICT management and systems.
• to train staff, and to roll out new developments.
• Annual visits to each country where systems are working well.
• Additional and extended implementation and training visits to country programmes where improvements are needed.

HQ First-level User Support
• Provide application support to HQ users

Qualifications
• Broad qualification in ICT including theory and practice of computer, server and network management
• Bachelor’s Degree in IT / Computer science desirable

Experience / Competencies
• 2-3 years’ experience in ICT
• Experience with an NGO desirable
• Knowledge of network and Windows server management
• Knowledge of software installation
• Skilled in trouble-shooting software and hardware problems
• Knowledge of Windows Server desirable
• Basic hardware repair experience desirable
• Servant minded, focussed on needs, not technology
• Able and willing to work as part of a team, respecting and sensitive to colleagues.
• Willingness to share information. Works effectively in a wide variety of situations.
• Analytical and detailed approach to ICT
• Good understanding of ICT risks.
• Able to train and coach others.
• Autonomous: manages own work and resources in an organised way that meets time bound objectives.
