Major Gift Fundraising Manager

Salary: £36,143 - £39,293 gross pa (negotiable depending on skills and experience), plus other benefits.
Status: Full-time, permanent contract, though part-time may be considered.
Based in: Islington, London, with short trips to Ireland/ Europe and occasional overseas travel.

Building on existing considerable contacts, you will be taking the lead in developing and implementing a new, sustainable significant major gift programme. Offering the opportunity to shape this new programme for Progressio, this post will involve deepening contacts with already committed supporters and bringing new financial support to the organisation.

You will bring a strong background in major gift fundraising and be able to capitalise on opportunities as they arise. Ideally you will bring knowledge of UK Catholic networks and individuals, other faith based networks, and/or relevant diaspora communities that have the potential to open doors and/or become sources of major gifts for Progressio’s work around the world.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), the post holder will have a track record in securing major gifts from individual donors, including through their trusts where applicable, and develop major giving strategies and plans. Proven experience in relationship management, effective networking, and of planning and delivering donor cultivation events; of setting, managing and delivering income budgets in excess of £500k pa, and a track record of producing funding proposals and other fundraising materials to a very high standard are also essential.

You should have effective communication, representational and negotiation skills, including the ability to persuade, motivate and deliver clear messages, and to build and manage high level relationships; the ability to work to tight deadlines and organise work load in a pressured environment; creative thinking and the ability to make decisions, to work on own initiative and as part of a closely coordinated team, and excellent attention to detail. Strong numeracy skills, including the ability to prepare budgets and to monitor expenditure against budgets, an entrepreneurial, results oriented and dynamic approach, and the ability to undertake occasional overseas travel and short trips to Ireland/ Europe.
