Officer, International Fundraising

The Disaster Fundraising unit provides fundraising campaign management and technical guidance to Red Cross fundraisers for domestic response, international service delivery and other appeals of the Red Cross mission. The Disaster Fundraising team are subject matter experts that work as principal consultants and technical authorities between Development and specific lines of service. This Officer, along with the Senior Officer, serves as the lead liaisons with the International Services department, coordinate episodic international disaster campaigns, and other fundraising activities related to International Services across the organization. The Officer routinely works in partnership with International Services, Marketing, Communications and other Development units to maximize potential funding opportunities during times of crisis.

Responsibilities: Helps create the strategic plan for international fundraising campaigns (taking primary responsibility regarding episodic strategy). Works closely with the Senior International Campaign Officer, other Development units, International Services and leadership. Leads the implementation and coordination of the episodic strategic plan during disasters, including liaising between Development and International Services and facilitating rapid creation and dissemination of relevant communication materials to maximize episodic revenue. Manages multiple customers with varying needs for international disaster fundraising support, advice and information. May serve as project manager for initiatives within International Fundraising. Coordinates efforts with affiliated international activities in other departments. Oversees some aspects of fundraiser training related to International Services programs.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience). A minimum of five years relevant fundraising experience. Extensive knowledge of fundraising principles and a track record of fundraising success with experience in a large organization. Experience in direct fundraising activities for episodic events, including strategizing and implementing a fundraising campaign is highly preferred. Red Cross experience, with a strong knowledge of the organization’s programs and services is desirable. Ability to handle pressure/changing priorities with good judgment. Strong project management, organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including interpersonal and negotiation skills. Evidence of strong leadership skills, initiative and ability to foster collaborative teamwork. Demonstrated ability to work on a team and deal effectively with all levels of the organization (including senior management, volunteers and field staff). Proficiency with Microsoft Office is necessary, and experience with a donor management system is preferred. Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable business needs, willingness to work outside standard established business hours, and a minimal amount (10-20%) of business travel are required.
