Profession: trainer specialized in blended and e-learning

The Learning and Development (L&D) Unit contributes to ICRC’s operations by offering an institutional learning path which supports all staff to effectively and efficiently take on their roles, while at the same time supporting their professional development.

Specifically, the Learning and Development Unit is responsible for designing and implementing institutional learning and development policies, programmes and coordinating the training undertaken by the various services. It advises trainers on such subjects as design, methodology, technologies, and teaching methods.

The trainer specialized in blended and e-learning will help to design and develop learning and development programmes using a blended-learning approach.

He or she will report to the Head of the Learning and Development Unit.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

Help the ICRC's L&D staff to design, develop, implement and evaluate blended-learning programmes:

  • Provide methodological support for learning projects;
  • Set learning objectives and desired impact;
  • Design of learning sessions;
  • Develop content with Articulate, Captivate and Scenari Opale;
  • Evaluate learning programmes (using the Kirkpatrick model).

Help to launch L&D technologies:

  • Jointly manage the ICRC's online learning platform;
  • Offer training solutions in virtual classrooms;
  • Create and maintain user manuals for rapid-learning tools;
  • Help to develop "templates" on Articulate and Captivate;
  • Assist with technological supervision

Help training staff to develop their skills:

  • Organize and run training sessions on technologies;
  • Contribute to feedback sessions on the basis of experience gained.

Required training and experience:

  • University degree in adult education, specialized in multimedia instructional design or distance learning;
  • Experience in the field of L&D
  • ICRC experience would be an asset;
  • Familiarity with rapid-learning tools such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate and Scenari Opale would be an asset.

Desired skills and profile:

  • Proven ability to design and develop blended and e-learning programmes
  • Ability to design an e-learning module
  • Ability to work in English and French; knowledge of other languages would be an asset
  • Ability to manage and work on projects
  • Team spirit
  • Independent
  • Ability to summarize, and to prioritize tasks

Minimum length of assignment: Two years
