Social Media Executive, Banking Technology

Overall Purpose Statement:
To implement and manage the creation and publishing of content for our banking technology Client’s social media requirements.

Description of roles & relationships:
Our client provides banking software to banks worldwide. Their goal for 2011/2012 is to increase awareness of their solutions and drive engagement with their audiences within banking community across the world.

Reporting into the Digital Account Director and based at Metia Ltd, Covent Garden, the Social Media Executive will be working directly for and with the client, and will be expected to

  • Use their knowledge of banking technology and the financial services industry to identify, create and promote thought leading content about innovations within those sectors.
  • Engage and interact with the client’s customers at banks in order to inform content and to build relationships.

The candidate will also need to build relationships with key stakeholders within the client’s business to ensure content topics are aligned and relevant to the client’s business.

This role is ideal for a self-starter/self-editor who can achieve high quality results with minimal supervision.

List of duties & tasks

Knowledge

  • Use their knowledge to gain the clients’ solution experts trust to create engaging content
  • Gain an in depth knowledge of the client’s business, the market, their customers
  • Understand the potential issues/risks that may arise
  • Expand knowledge by reading industry media/researching banks and their use of technology to develop and profitably deliver new generations of services

Content Creation and Management

  • Build and maintain knowledge of trends and innovations within banking technology and the wider financial services industry.
  • Work with client stakeholders responsible for product offerings to understand their priorities, gather market insight etc. to inform content pieces.

Social Media Engagement

  • Publish content through the appropriate social and online media channels.
  • Identify and engage relevant industry influencers.
  • Manage all social media channels and use them to engage with customers and influencers.
  • Initiate and contribute to relevant industry conversations online.
  • Understand and appraise how new and specialist social media platforms can be used to further content reach.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Degree-level qualification in finance or associated subject
  • Demonstrable experience of using social networks and technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to work effectively independently
  • Keen interest in the banking technology

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the banking technology or financial services industry and its component systems and processes
  • A proven track record of implementing successful social media programmes
  • Work experience in the banking technology industry
  • Experience gained within an agency environment
