Investment Management - IT Advisory - Consultant

Roles and Responsibilities:

Within IT Advisory Investment Management Principal Advisors work between IT and the business to deliver technology-enabled change and lead the market in providing the following services:

  • Project and programme management.
  • Programme assurance.
  • Benefits management.
  • IT operational transformation and effectiveness.
  • IT enterprise architecture and strategy.
  • IT solution architecture and design.
  • Support business development initiatives including bid proposal and contract/commercial management.
  • Actively contribute to knowledge management and new proposition development.
  • Build and maintain client relationships.


Qualifications and Skills:

Successful candidates will have some or all of the following skills/qualifications:

  • Ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders at all levels within client organisations.
  • Managing Programmes in a Change capacity.
  • Ability to understand rapidly clients' issues and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Strong communicator with the personal skills to build strong and lasting client relationships.
  • Ability to take client aspirations and ideas and support them in turning them into a practical reality.
  • Strong communicator with the personal skills to build strong and lasting client relationships.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Imnvestment Management processes, systems and technologies in Traditional Fund Management business or both, with a demonstrable track record in the definition and/or implementation of IT in this area.
  • Ability to meet project milestones within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Solid problem solving skills, ability to analyse complex data, identify core issues, investigate, evaluate and reach appropriate conclusions/solutions.
  • Confident dealing with both senior level executives and project staff at all levels.


Experience and Background:

  • A successful track record of delivering high quality programme, project, work-stream or assignment outputs with a focus on delivering measurable business improvements.
  • This experience will be from working for a major advisory business or leading Investment Management institution.
  • Knowledge and experience of the key change drivers in the Investment Management industry and the successful planning & execution of resultant change initiatives, including drivers such as Solvency II and Retail Distribution Review (RDR), FATCA and UCITSIV.
  • Experience of Charles River or Blackrock Aladdin a distinct advantage.
  • Experience gained in key delivery roles on major transformation programmes (£multi million), such as core systems replacement programmes within the IM sector. This may include elements of IT operational transformation and IT effectiveness and will have been gained as a leader or a key team member in one or more of the major delivery teams typically involved in large IT-enabled programmes, including:
    - Delivery Management
    - Business Analysis
    - Solution Architecture and Design
    - Development Testing (Functional, Non-Functional, Process)
    - Infrastructure Delivery and Environment Management

In addition Principal Advisors should also be able to evidence:

  • A well maintained network across the Investment Management industry to support business development opportunities
  • Historical experience of leading large teams/programmes and comfortable dealing with senior level executives
