Role Purpose
One of the best ways to win Tier 1 applications is by securing the SAP workload on Windows and SQL Server. The Enterprise Platform Team is looking for a motivated pre-sales professional with an understanding of SAP ERP workloads and a passion to convince these customers to implement on or migrate to the Microsoft Application Platform.

This SSP SAP Platform role will be responsible for supporting SAP Account teams by providing technical expertise around the Microsoft Application platform with SAP systems. Specifically, they will interact directly with customers and partners to convince them that Windows Server and SQL Server are a compelling infrastructure to run their SAP systems on. This role will be accountable to build trusted advisor relationships with SAP Partners, SAP Account teams as well as collaborate across the Microsoft Sales and business group teams. The persons hired for this role should be able to establish instant credibility in customers eyes that they understand what it takes to run SAP on the Microsoft Application Platform.

Team/Department Mission
“World Wide Specialist Sales Strategy and Operations Team” part of WW EPG. Internal reactive branding is “Comphot” (the org) and the SSP Platform (role) is part of the Platform Modernization team. Besides these the team consists also out of CATM subject matter experts (CATM stands for Customer Advocacy Technical Management).

The overall team’s mission is to assist our field sellers win highly competitive sales opportunities. We do this through work on re-active (escalated) / pro-active outreach opportunities, complement existing readiness, feed-back learning’s, insights and trends to business/product groups in a formal manner.

Key Accountabilities
This role will be responsible for working with SAP Partners, SAP Account teams and convincing traditional Oracle or DB2 shops of the readiness of Windows, SQL Server and .NET to take on mission critical SAP systems. In addition this role will be responsible for managing sales pipeline, collaborating with partners and the Microsoft AppPlat community:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with SAP and Microsoft sales organizations
• Ability to effectively communicate complex architecture concepts to customers.
• Evaluate the customer’s business and technical needs. Build a solid case for implementation or migration to the Microsoft Windows platform. Work with MS account teams, MS Services and partners (SIs, ISVs, hardware OEMs) to help the customer migrate to Windows/SQL Server.
• Support readiness activities for field sales teams by providing knowledge and skills transfer on how to sell successfully into SAP accounts.

Key Success Criteria
This position requires a person who can talk the talk because they have previously walked the SAP walk in the [pre-]sales, architect or technical sales areas. This position requires a passion to work with top level enterprise customers, and to deal with not only complex technical solutions but also very complex sales scenarios including joint selling with SAP account teams. A background that provides strong credibility with these customers through identification with the SAP culture is essential.

Qualified candidates should have experience driving a sales pipeline with the Microsoft field or with Microsoft partners. Candidates should also have experience driving internal and external marketing and communications.

Ultimate measure of success is nr of wins where he/she has been instrumental in winning and a proxy to the Windows SQL Server revenue

• Provide feedback to appropriate product teams relating to customer requirements and competitive intelligence.
• Support readiness activities for field sales teams by providing knowledge and skills transfer on how to sell successfully with SAP.

Technical/Functional Skills
The Solution Sales Specialist must understand the IT and business organizations of an SAP customer and how to sell into this environment. Specifically the Solution Sales Specialist must understand the budget and accountability of the CIO compared to business groups that own business processes and how to sell into both areas. The Solution Sales Specialist must understand the financial aspects of SAP implementations and migrations and be able to discuss and showcase the TCO value of the Microsoft Platform over competitive solutions.

Successful candidates for this position will have the ability to communicate their message through marketing channels and in a business setting using strong written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, business acumen and virtual team building is also required.

Qualifications
• Proven experience selling or consulting or working with SAP systems.
Experience can be primarily either in system architecture or sales and consulting, but the candidate must be able to address both areas.
• Selling versus the competition (e.g. how to approach a situation in which we are seeking to overtake an entrenched competitor)
• Comfortable with SAP architecture, terminology and implementation practices.
• Ability to articulate the business value: overall the MS Enterprise Product Roadmap, our Platform offering
• The ability to demonstrate successful application of industry knowledge
• Understanding of sales and service strategies; strong organization and communication skills
• Contributing in Building Communities, sharing knowledge


Special Requirements/Additional Information e.g. Language Skills
• Job Location: UK, FR, Western Europe
Due to the initial focus of role on specified countries
• Travel requirements up to 40%.
• Fluency in English (written, spoken) and another European language (strongly preferred).
