ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

-Oversee the management of the WASH programs activities such as Water, Hygiene & Sanitation (including Cholera outbreak prevention activities) as well as oversee operations of site office which includes administration, human resources, financial, logistics and security.
-Conduct community needs assessment and make recommendations about the needs and vulnerabilities of targeted Populations in relation to WASH issues in Far North.
-Develop & implement standard WATSAN designs including best Hygiene practices, using technology appropriate to the situation ( including Cholera outbreak response) Whilst incorporating and addressing long term sustainability
-Develop and maintain strong working relationship and coordinate with sate and district government authorities, relevant international and local agencies engaged in similar activities in the area, including the UN and other NGO’s.
-Promote and ensure community participation and ownership through liaising with the beneficiary communities, establishing, training and supporting water user / sanitation committees and ensure transparency of the activities.
-Staff recruitment and management, including mentoring, identification and provision of required support and training to the community WASH committees and volunteers.
-Ensure active community participation as equal partners in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project.
-High quality regular and timely situational, progress and donor reports within deadline and carry out any other duties as requested by supervisor.


SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor degree or higher diploma in water engineering, civil engineering, water resources management or related field.
•Previous experience of implementing rural water and sanitation projects including Cholera outbreak response programs, with at least 7 years of relevant project management experience.
•Demonstrated analytical, project conceptual and planning skills projects, clear and realistic activity timetable development, agreement, and overseeing implementation.
•Experience working with communities, local government, NGO’s and national NGO’s and familiarity with international humanitarian operations
•Good organizational and project management skills with the ability to anticipate project needs, changes and priorities.
•Able to prepare plans and reports, planning, negotiation and leadership skills.
•Basic computer skills- Microsoft Office, Email, Excel- and other computer based systems.
•Fluent in both French and English (Written and spoken)
