MANAGER: PURCHASING PARTS & MATERIALS

Key job functions: Manage and coordinate the activities of a team of specialists in respect of:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Market research to development a database that supports the creation of commodity strategies for future model sourcing
  • Strategic Sourcing: Project manage the implementation of commodity strategies
  • Cost (Components): Manage strategy to achieve cost reduction targets
  • Cost (Cost Down Target Adherence): Manage and support team members in the achievement of departmental cost down targets
  • Project Delivery (Admin Strategy, Management for Corporate Functioning): Provide accurate departmental reports to management per agreed date and presentation style
  • Quality and Stable Supply (Supplier Management): Support Company targets on Cost, Quality and Delivery, and manage supplier relationships and improvement programmes
  • Quality and Stable Supply (Supplier Management): Review individual development plans for team members, identify and provide training needs, and develop and coach team members
  • Business Reformation (Governance Compliance): Manage policy and procedures in line with legislation and company governance.

Requirements:

  • A relevant NQF 6 (360 credits) on the 8 level framework in Commerce plus 2 years’ Purchasing Specialist Level 1, or technical qualification plus equivalent relevant experience in a related discipline
  • Managerial experience in a purchasing/project environment within the vehicle manufacturing industry or automotive component manufacturing sector would be an advantage
  • Computer literacy in Excel (advanced), Word and PowerPoint (intermediate)
  • A track record of leadership abilities.
