Head of Communication IPC - International Post Corporation Brussels, Belgium

The International Post Corporation (IPC) is a cooperative association of 24 members which are national postal services from major countries in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. Our members handle 80% of the world’s postal traffic, employ more than 2.3 million people, and have a combined turnover of €214 billion. IPC itself has some 65 staff of 15 different nationalities and the company’s working language is English. Our corporate mission is the provision of assistance and expertise to facilitate development and improvement of postal services. Our members’ business represents mail, parcels, express, logistics, retail and banking services. With increasing privatisation and liberalisation, IPC’s objective is to sustain our record for the delivery of practical and intelligent solutions to meet the rapidly evolving needs of our dynamic industry.

Tasks

  • Create and execute corporate communication plan, ensuring member “buy-in”;
  • Lead and manage team and agencies for all corporate communications;
  • Generate positive press to increase the visibility of the postal sector and company in international business and trade media;
  • Organise and manage leading international industry conferences and events and maximise associated media coverage;
  • Organise and manage senior executive forums for members;
  • Identify and communicate a good story, making it interesting and adapting it for print and on-line publications;
  • Manage corporate identity program;
  • Manage corporate web centre;
  • Create, manage and coordinate all corporate publications and brochures;
  • Based on briefings and communications objectives, draft speeches for senior executives especially for the CEO;
  • Prepare and distribute releases and media packs for journalists in national, international business and international trade publications;
  • Write strategic articles based on research analysis and findings;
  • Network and facilitate communication between member communication teams and trade associations.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years demonstrable achievement in a corporate/marketing communications environment, of which at least 4 years in a senior communications managerial position; media relations experience is essential, public relations agency experience desirable;
  • Evidence of success in building consensus among individuals and groups;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English essential; additional languages desirable;
  • Experience of the postal or express industry would be helpful, but not essential;
  • Evidence of successful experience in writing content for press releases, executive speeches, corporate websites, business newsletters, brochures and publications;
  • Excellent leadership and team member skills;
  • Creative with strong personal influencing skills;
  • Dynamic, mature, self-assured individual with excellent communication skills;
  • Excellent priority management skills and ability to multi-task.
