Irstea (formerly called Cemagref) is the National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture.
It focuses on three main social challenges: Sustainable management of land and water, Natural hazards and Environmental quality. Within the framework of French and European research, the Institute carries out research aimed at supporting public policy making and industrial innovation. It employs 1,600 people in nine regional centres in France. Among the Irstea units, the Joint Research Unit Métafort (Mutations dEs acTivités, des espAces et des Formes d’ORganisation dans les Territoires ruraux /Changes in Land Use and Governance in Rural Areas) brings together researchers and lecturers in agricultural sciences and social sciences whose work focuses on understanding and supporting the dynamics of rural areas.
Within Métafort, the team EIDER (Land use changes, Public policy and dynamics of rural and suburban areas) aims at producing, disseminating and transfering scientific knowledge and skills on the evolution of rural and suburban areas. The team is largely inserted in the European research communities on the topic.
In this context, you will apply economic analysis to place-based public policies and build a link between two axis of the EIDER research project: land use and activities changes in rural-periurban areas, and place- based public policies. You will participate in on-going projects in EIDER and Métafort . You will design and lead new research projects at the European (FP8), national (national calls) or regional levels, and develop the team scientific partnership network. You will be involved in teaching at master level.
Abilities
As a researcher, you are an ambitious and enthusiastic scientist and a team player, devoted to research and training in the field of regional economics, public economics, political economics or economics of public policy.
You also have:
- a PhD in economics;
- a minimum of 8 years experience working in a research team;
- an expertise in conducting research and publishing in international journals;
- a proven ability to attract external research funding;
- excellent communication skills;
- good teaching skills and enthusiasm for working with students and teaching;
- a good command of econometrics;
- an active knowledge of French and English.
