Liaison Officer DTU - Technical University of Denmark

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) invites applications for the position as Liaison Officer to represent DTU at a newly established office for the EuroTech Universities Alliance in Brussels.

EuroTech Universities is an alliance between four leading technical universities in Europe: The Technical University of Denmark, Technische Universität München, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven and École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. The partners represent the European elite within technical research, education and innovation. The alliance aims to promote technological solutions to important societal challenges and is a forum for collaboration between the alliance partners as well as for a dialogue with society.

The purpose of the Brussels representation is mainly to raise the profile and visibility of the alliance at the European scene and to look after the interests of the alliance with focus on the EU framework programme for research, technological development and demonstration.
Fully staffed, the office will consist of 6 persons: a head of office, an assistant manager and one representative from each of the four partners.

Responsibilities and tasks

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Positioning of the alliance;
  • Engage in dialogue with the EC and EP;
  • Shaping EU research funding policy;
  • Building networks with relevant stakeholders;
  • Planning and execution of events and meetings;
  • Information dissemination;
  • Concrete support to major strategic research proposals and contribution to the daily operations at the office.

The work will be undertaken in close collaboration with the alliance partners and in close dialogue with DTU, where the commissioner primarily will be the DTU Research Office and the DTU International Alliance Office. The Liaison Officer will refer to the DTU Research Office.

Qualifications

Candidate’s competency profile:

  • Holds a relevant academic degree;
  • Has experience of working with European research policy and research programmes;
  • Has experience with lobbyism at European level;
  • Has an existing network in Brussels;
  • Has knowledge of academia and the research and educational conditions for Danish and international universities;
  • Speaks and writes English at negotiation level and preferably also French;
  • Has excellent analytical and communication skills;
  • Has the ability to work in a process-oriented way with many stakeholders and still maintain an overview;
  • Is approachable and solution-oriented and can work independently as well as in networks.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on individual terms.
The appointment will be limited to two years with possible extension.
The place of work is Brussels, Belgium and some travel within Europe is to be expected.
