Tailormade Training Manager - Kennington Lane, London

The Role

This role is responsible for developing and delivering our Tailor Made Training service, providing line management to the Technical Training Coordinator and working closely with the Security Training Team. In the last year alone the Tailor Made Training service has grown by over 50% and delivered training events in more than 30 countries worldwide. This role is responsible for the continued growth of that overall service as well as hands-on responsibility for managing and delivering training events.

It is an ideal role for a dynamic and entrepreneurial Learning and Development specialist who is focused on delivering high quality services in line with client needs. The ideal candidate will be willing to take on a range of varying responsibilities and provide direction and support for their team while delivering on individual
projects.

Role Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead on RedR’s programme of Tailor Made Training and Consultancy Services, overseeing the delivery of around 90 worldwide events each year to organisations in the Humanitarian sector.
  • Design and deliver a strategy to ensure the continued growth of RedR’s Tailor Made Training whilst ensuring it maintains a high level of quality.
  • Personally manage around 25 events a year; building relationships with client organisations, designing training and consultancy events that meet their needs, engaging consultant trainers where necessary and handling all contractual processes.
  • Be the lead trainer for a number of RedR training events each year.
  • Manage the Technical Training Coordinator and provide close support to the Security Training Team.
  • As a member of the L&D management team, contribute to the overall L&D strategy, and management of the wider team.
  • Manage all aspects of the budget in relation to Tailor Made Training including budget planning, monitoring, forecasting and reporting.
  • Continue to develop and maintain the necessary infrastructure to ensure the highest quality training including; processes for event management, assessment of trainers, guidance and support for trainers, information systems, and high quality and up-to-date training materials.
  • Work with the UK Open Training Programme to ensure consistency and quality in training.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key individuals in agencies operating in the sector including NGO’s, UN agencies, clusters and donor organisations.
  • Represent RedR at events where required.
  • Support the production of funding proposals.
  • Provide support to RedR’s International Programmes where required, assisting in trainer assessment, course design and delivery and event management advice.
  • Work with RedR’s Communications and Marketing team to promote the Tailor Made Training service.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in training and facilitation including assessing learning needs, design of curriculum, evaluation of events and assessment of learning outcomes
  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) of training on a range of topics with diverse participants and often in a non UK location.
  • Experience in assessing other trainers
  • Experience of working in the Humanitarian sector with NGO’s and preferably with UN agencies also
  • Experience of designing and delivering tailor made or consultancy services in line with client needs
  • Solid project management experience and knowledge including experience of event management
  • Experience of recruiting, contracting and managing consultants
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders, often in geographically diverse locations
  • Experience of budget planning, monitoring, management and reporting.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of adult learning including technical understanding of learning styles, and appropriate pedagogy
  • Technical expertise in the design of curricula and learning events based on
  • Good knowledge of the Humanitarian sector; principles, actors involved, legal frameworks, current trends and challenges
  • Sufficient knowledge relating to a range of RedR courses to be able to be lead trainer. Examples could include; Humanitarian principles actors and laws, Project Management in Emergencies, Needs Assessment, Sphere Standards, Security, Cluster Coordination
  • Networking, representation, communication skills,
  • Customer service focus and entrepreneurial attitude

Salary: £33,590 - £37,323 dependent on experience
