Position Summary:

The Project Director will be primarily responsible for management and oversight of all aspects of the project. This position will be based in Bhopal, India and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and quality assurance for all project activities.

Job Responsibilities:

Ensure cutting-edge Technical Assistance (TA) is provided to the National AIDS Control Program in the area of strategic information, including annual surveillance, second generation surveillance, operations research, and monitoring and evaluation. Provide overall leadership and direction on strategic information management and planning. He/she will be the focal point person for communication with CDC, NACO, SACS, project partners and other national stakeholders. Liaise with other government counterparts. Lead and provide management oversight and technical guidance to the project. Oversee project technical and strategic planning including Country Operation Plan and Annual Workplan, Budget, Annual Progress Report and APRO reports. Responsible for managing all partnership under the project. Oversee financial and programmatic reporting to CDC. Ensure timely completion and submission of project deliverables. Recruit and manage staff, provide mentoring support. Hire and supervise consultants. Represent project work in national, regional or global forums, networks and advisory groups, and consultative sessions or conferences. Ensure practice of research ethics in all assessments and studies. Oversee development and implementation of the capacity building plan for project staff and partners. Oversee documentation and publication of project activities and achievements. Keep updated on the newer developments in terms of policies, guidelines and technical developments. Consult and coordinate with FHI APRO and HQ technical staff.

Minimum Requirements:

BS/BA or its international equivalent; MS/MA /MPH and/or PhD/MD preferred.Minimum of 8+ years experience with international development programs and professional level of knowledge and expertise in HIV/AIDS Strategic Information and Monitoring & Evaluation, with working experience in India/Asia, Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job. Ability to travel within country or region and internationally if needed. Demonstrated technical and research knowledge and experience. Proven skills in management, supervision, leadership and networking. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues surrounding public health issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience of providing technical assistance to Government of India and NACO preferred. Experience with managing teams and discharging supervisory duties.
