Position Summary
Contracts and Procurement (C&P) is an international team of professionals providing specialist support to BG Group's Global portfolio. Spread across BG Group’s businesses and project offices around the world, C&P plays a vital role in managing supply chain risk and ensuring that we obtain maximum value for money from the contracts we place.
By joining Contracts & Procurement at BG Group you’ll be taking your first steps on a career that could involve anything from negotiating with drilling rig contractors to major engineering contractors for multi-billion dollar capital projects.
During our International Graduate Development Programme (IGDP) you will gain an indepth understanding of how to put contracts together that protect the company and ensure our work programmes are completed on time. You will learn how to negotiate the best deal for BG Group and manage relationships with internal client groups, suppliers and contractors.

Key Accountabilities
The core accountability for all graduates on the IGDP is to acquire the necessary skills, experience and behaviours through their placements to enable them to take on a substantive role at the end of the two year program. Throughout the programme you will be expected to gain awareness and understanding of the C&P lifecycle, which is likely to include a combination of the following areas:
  • Category planning
  • Understanding Business Requirements and Demand Options
  • Understanding the Supply Market  
  • Contract Strategy Development
  • Supply Market Approach
  • Bid Evaluation
  • Negotiation and Contract Award
  • Post-Award Contract Management
  • Materials Management and Standards
  • Process and Systems

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Minimum qualification: 2:1 Bachelors Degree
Subjects: Business Studies, Economics, International Business, Management, Law and Engineering

Just as important as your academic qualifications, however, will be the personal, professional and business skills you bring.

  • You will need to exhibit strong collaborative behaviours, and the confidence to lead cross-functional teams to drive the best business outcomes for BG;
  • You will need to demonstrate commercial edge, and at the same time, a strong ethical awareness.
  • You will need to be highly organised, comfortable writing reports and giving presentations.
  • You must be confident and persuasive enough to influence others both within and outside of the business.
  • A keen eye for detail and an analytical approach to work is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is a must; given that we are a global business a second or third language would be highly desirable.
