Position Summary
Our Economics department, referred to as Business Analysis, is an integral and exciting part of our business. As an Economist within the International Graduate Development Programme (IGDP), you will be part of a technical, commercial and operational team of experts whose purpose is to optimise BG Groups profitability through analysing markets and interpreting complex economic models.
 As an economics graduate you could be involved in any number of core activities including; analysis of new opportunities, creating department work-streams and analysing prospective resources for new ventures. This coupled with being exposed to every aspect of our integrated international gas business, from exploration well to domestic supply will ensure that you have all the tools you need to be a successful economist within BG Group. The market intelligence and analysis you provide will guide the long-term decisions we make about our options for the future.

Key Accountabilities
A core accountability of all IGDP graduates is to acquire the necessary skills, experience and behaviours to enable you to take on a permanent role as a business analyst at the end of your time on the programme.
Placements will be structured to develop your competencies in a number of areas that could include;
  • Providing analyses, with the use of guidelines and models
  • Collating departmental data and standard outputs to form specific work-streams
  • Producing opportunity screening and prospective resources inventory submissions
  • Producing economic results for new project approvals

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Minimum qualification: 2:1 Bachelors Degree
Desirable qualification: Masters degree
Subjects: Economics, Management, Finance.
A successful application is likely be from someone that has demonstrated academic excellence along with previous experience that involved a certain degree of responsibility. 

The key attributes required are:

  • The desire and ability to learn, develop and progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including influencing skills and mental resilience
  • High level computing skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent presentation skills with clear, strong report writing ability and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal, with fluency in at least one other language a plus
Since at least one or more of your placements will be based overseas, you must be prepared to live and work away from home for extended periods. You must also have the confidence, influence, patience and cultural sensitivity to make the most of the opportunity that presents itself.
