Project Context
Building Markets is recruiting for its Sustainable Marketplace Initiative project in Myanmar. The SMI will contribute to private sector development by linking international, regional and national buyers with capable local entrepreneurs. Building Markets is seeking resourceful and motivated staff who are committed to private sector development in Myanmar.
Business Verification is the cornerstone of all Building Markets’ activities and provides buyers with a detailed picture of the goods and services available from local businesses as well as key information such as legal status, ownership structure, track record and key contact details. Given the fluid environments in which Building Markets often operates, integrity of data is absolutely crucial to the cultivation of new business relationships with local suppliers. To keep information current, the Call Centre re-verifies business data on a regular basis is essential.
Position Overview
The Data Entry Officer is responsible for the data entry and data management of the Business Verification team. Under the supervision of the Business Verification Associate, the Data Entry Officer will compile information collected through business verifications and enter it into the appropriate Google Drive forms. The Data Entry Officer will also perform quality control checks on all data in the system, in order to ensure the information collected is as accurate and professional as possible. 
Project Implementation
  • Responsible for day-to-day updating and editing of the Business Verification tracking sheets;
  • Working with the Business Verification Associate/Officers to ensure that the information collected and delivered by Business Verification Officers is reviewed for accuracy and quality;
  • Perform additional data entry related tasks as required by the Business Verification Associate or the Project Service Manager.
Required qualifications, skills and experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, preferably procurement related and with either an NGO or multinational corporation
  • Strong English skills both written and oral
  • Strong ability to work with MS Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated experience managing the administrative and logistical needs of an organization
  • Demonstrated management experience
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of the Myanmar and expat staff, local vendors, government officials and Building Markets partners
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong motivation to promote private sector development in Myanmar
  • Entrepreneurial and resourceful attitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Familiarity with Google Drive and/or Excel
  • Fluent in Myanmar, with strong English skills (especially reading and writing)
