INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION, GSAM JAPAN, SHAREHOLDER SERVICES, ANALYST/ASSOCIATE (TOKYO

GSAM Japan is looking for a highly motivated and energetic candidate to join Shareholder Services and become part of the global team with the opportunity to work closely with colleagues from Asia, Europe and the US. 

• Cover key servicing activities for our domestic and offshore product offerings, including: 
- Coordinate with the custodians/trust banks to resolve matters related to trade settlement and funds clearance 
- Manage daily activities such as bank reconciliations and trade monitoring/reporting 
- Drive timely resolution of issues related to shareholder servicing, money movement, and other operational areas 
- Liaise with key vendors to ensure sustained process improvement and efficiencies related to day-to-day responsibilities 
• Review necessary client documentation related to account opening and AML/KYC requirements 
• Create customized reports for a wide variety of clients and distributors 
• Support the product launch and account implementation process for Japanese domestic fund, offshore fund, separate account and alternative investment products 
• Coordinate with GSAM teams in London, Chicago, and across Asia-Pacific in setting up products, accounts, and managing client issues 
• Monitor and escalate service issues to ensure a high quality response to clients 
• Measure and track adherence to regulatory and company compliance standards, including Sarbanes-Oxley

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-4 years in an operational or service environment, preferably in the financial services industry 
• Knowledge of mutual funds and/or alternative investment products a plus 
• Strong relationship building skills with a high energy level and resilient temperament 
• Excellent communicator in Japanese and English, both internally and externally 
• Achievement orientation and willingness to excel and succeed 
• Service-minded and client-focused in approach to the role 
• Team-oriented and self-motivated 
• Ability to take ownership of issues and knowledge of when to escalate items to management 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and able to deal with people at all levels both internally (i.e. Portfolio Managers, Distribution and Infrastructure) and externally (i.e. Recordkeepers and Distributors) 
• Strong organizational skills and ability to set own priorities 
• An ability to work to tight deadlines and with activities and targets which may change at short notice
